In 2004, the Ayual Community Development Association, a non-profit organization founded by the Lost Boys and Girls of Sudan from the Ayual Community, established Pongborong Primary School, which served 300 students. With the support of ACDA, the school has grown to serve approximately 800 students in grades one through eight. They are taught by 14 teachers. ACDA is particularly proud that its campaign to educate girls has been a success. PPS has almost an equal number of girls and boys, which is uncommon in many Sudanese schools. Still, the school faces many obstacles. Future funds will be used to train teachers, build permanent structures for classrooms, create stipends for teachers and cooks, purchase school supplies, desks, and more.
